GitHub is a web-based software development hosting and management service, using Git version control software. GitHub offers paid professional accounts, as well as free accounts for open source projects. The site also provides access control and features designed for collaboration such as bug tracking, feature requests, task management and a wiki for each project.
In April 2016, GitHub announced that it had surpassed fourteen million users and more than 35 million project repositories placing it as the world's largest source code host.
Why use GitHub
At beeside, we use GitHub, as a way to back up our code. We also use it for our clients' projects. This allows, in case of a crash, to quickly get your website or application back up and running.
